entered on a list. These should give
you a flavour of the sort of extra things
we can do for you if you prefer us to be more hands-on. Of
course, it does have to be appreciated that these things do take
time and that time is a scarce resource for accountants. How you

Cash Flow
Preparing a detailed cash flow and profit forecast for a nursing
home to demonstrate to the bank involved that cash flow issues could
be worked through and also to assist with negotiating a phased
re-financing.

No Head for Figures
Quarterly visits to the client (a great salesperson but the first
to admit she has no head for figures) to prepare VAT returns and
also a “flash report” of the key financials; the visits also give us
the opportunity to chat about issues and problems, and deal with
some of the mountain of government paperwork which inundates small
businesses.

Business Start Up
Bespoke start-up packages for new businesses, tailored
specifically to what the entrepreneurs wanted and giving them the
opportunity to pick our brains and have some of the basic chores
taken away from them.

Site Visits
On-site preparation of accounts where feasible to ensure the
queries get answered as they arise and everything is turned round
quicker and more smoothly.

P11D
On-site completion of annual P11D returns of benefits and
expenses, prepared directly from the client’s own accounting records
and saving them the effort of either extracting the information
themselves or of making what can be complicated calculations.

Pay Less Tax
Taking on a client whose books were in arrears and where the work
of the previous (unqualified) accountant had been heavily criticised
by the Revenue. Negotiating amendments to tax assessments for
earlier years based upon what we found.

Implementing Accounting Software
On-site assistance with installation and implementation of
computerised accounting systems including training the staff advice
and on phasing the changeover.

Handling Tax Enquiries
Handled a number of tax enquiries, all with positive results to
date (either in terms of no further tax to pay or an amount
significantly reduced from that originally demanded by the Revenue).
We’ve even had one case where a very decent refund was negotiated on
the basis of information which came to light from the enquiry!

Sales Analysis
Examination of sales figures for a wholesaler to discover and
stratify the number of customers, their total spend and the number
of separate occasions they purchased goods: this information could
then be used to better target their
customers.

Billing System
Day nursery client wished to move its billing procedure from
monthly in arrears by way of invoice to monthly in advance by way of
standing order. We devised an Excel calculation system and have
since administered this on their behalf.
